Samba and older windows systems I still like to use my older systems, and I want to access some smb shares and vice versa. Now remember that older systems are a "security risk" They only become visible when viewed This amp was only used a couple of times, hasmaybe an hours usage This is a terrific and quiet small and quiet amplifier.
On 10meters on a quick test with 40 watts in I got a little over watts out of smooth quiet power, it can do a little more but I never push anamp Requires 60 amp minimum at It uses a newly developed micro processor based technology, and works a smooth automatic operation when driven by the radio in either SSB or CW mode.
I wanted to boost the signal of my Kenwood TS a tad from watts. I'm in a restricted area and prefer to hide my antennas. The houses are too close to give me a good feeling about interference so I do not want to add too much power. Most of the Hams I've talked to say they can avoid interference by keeping it under watts. The HLB will give me watts driving it with The extra watts I get are probably more psychological than all that effective but it gives me a good feeling.
I do think the extra power does help though since my antennas are not 5 element yagis at ft. I'm only using a 66 ft Off Center Fed dipole up at 25 feet and a 24 ft flagpole. I have since bought one to use on my watt TSHX instead of two 20 amp power supplies. It's point and shoot. No tuning needed.
Built like a small tank and stays cool with a fan on the side panel. Like I said Makes a big difference in that regard. No or 6 meters. If you use more than 50 watts you could damage the amp so be careful. If I had the money and the space I would have an amp with much more power. If there was a much less expensive watt, solid state amp I would have probably bought that one. I guess one could get a Ameritron watt tube amp and drive it with less power can you get watts out of the watt Ameritrons?
However, keep in mind the solid state amps are "tune free". Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. I am really happy with this amp, works great and very easy to set up. Customer service is outstanding and they answer there phone.. All protective functions worked immediately if involved and mistuned.
I have been able to get into nets without any issues including the crowded nets, and now able to rise above the fray. Well designed, nicely produced, and fit and finish some of the best in the industry.
Driven by Diamond 60 amp power supply, all purchased from HRO who met and beat others prices with immediate shipping. Highly recommended for base operation needing a boost for DX and crowded bands. I was looking for an Amp that would give me a little extra boost while operating from the QTH and the ability to go portable. This amp fills the bill for both. It makes the difference I needed with the Nets and I'm getting good reports.
I am using a tuner between it and the antenna and when tuned I am getting close to watts out on 80m, watts out on 40 meters and a little over on 20 meters.
I do back it down to watts after tuning as no one on the other end can tell the difference. The protection circuit works really well and I feel confident that when I do take it portable I will have great sucess there as well. Great piece of equipment and great service from the guys at Array Solutions Bob N5DMT. More than 12 Months. There is a delay before newly submitted reviews are Approved and posted in eHam's reviews.
The delay is for new review screening and approval. The delay varies from minutes to a day or more. Before adding a new product use the "Search" tool on reviews Home page to determine if that product already exists in a category.
A valid product review is one where you have experience or knowledge of the product you would like to share with others. The reviews are not a Forum for two-way exchanges, product inquiries, general discussions, complaints, help requests, product repairs or modifications, or customer service issues.
A review should provide useful relevant opinions of a product. The unit incorporates a newly developed microprocessor which controls all functions of the amplifier including automatic band switching, when driven by the transceiver.
In addition to the automatic band select function, the band selection can be manually switched via the front panel controls or the optional external remote controller HRC This controller simply plugs into the rear of the unit. The HLB can be keyed with RF or the recommended method of connecting a keying line to the rear jack of the unit. Also incorporated, is an ALC circuit, which will help insure that the finals are always protected from being overdriven.
An efficient fan which is mounted on the right side of the case supplies cooling air to the heat sink and the internal components of the unit.
